The Return (I'm back!)

Guess who's back? After nearly 1 year of hiatus, I've decided to start blogging again! There's some major updates that I have to do with my blog, including a new theme and several links to what I've been up to lately. I've missed blogging so much and I hope I can start up and be active with it again. A lot has happened in this past year which led to a huge lack of motivation to blog and maintain on-going content. I hope I've reached past that point now to move on and do the things I love doing again.

To sum it all up, things are much different now compared to the last time I posted (hair-wise, you can see I was still blonde in my last post). I've graduated with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts this past June and I will be going into the second semester of my Junior year at Hunter College as a Media Major. I've done a few freelancing cinematography/video editing gigs which made me decide to pursue that as a career in the future. Eventually, I would love to edit professional wedding videos because who doesn't love seeing people happy, right? But anything video-related along the lines of fashion or music would be amazing as well. To top it all off, I've officially made my Youtube account public where I post a lot of my vlogs. Soon I'll have my Vimeo account ready where I'll be publishing my freelance work. I really want to set up an online portfolio where I can showcase samples of my all my work - videos, photography, styling, & writing/blogging. A ton of internships/jobs I've been trying to apply to seem to require that and I always had nothing to show so I figured it's time to get my act together and work on this, for my own benefit in the long run. Besides, I'd forgotten how therapeutic it is to just sit here and type about my daily life and happenings (I can only write so much on Instagram captions).

With that being said, c0nquis.blogspot.com is back and will soon have a new makeover. I'll be including links in the header of my work as well as social media accounts where I can be reached. For those who are reading this, may remember me, or even slightly anticipated my return - I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sometimes, it's just hard to get motivated with something I know I'm capable so much of. I'm grateful for the support of those who read my blog, those who encouraged me to start up my Youtube, and everyone who's just been really kind and acknowledging about my passion for styling, photography, and making videos. I am no way an entertainer, I'm just here to share what I love to do and whether I know you through social media or in real life, I'm thankful for your support!

Love always,
Christal

Vanessa's Dumpling House in Williamsburg

Brooklyn Bridge Park is always going to be one of my favorite places to go to especially during the summer. My friends and I grabbed some ice cream and just chilled on a nice lawn for a few hours. For dinner we took the L train to Bedford Ave and got dumplings and beer. Nothing beats cheap food with good company and we were so full believe it or not!

I spent all of Friday at Sweet & Shiny Bakery in Brooklyn since a good friend of mine works there. I had tons of iced coffee and delicious cupcakes, it was such a bliss. I headed to SoHo later that night to have dinner with my mom and we passed by this stunning street so I had to get a picture.

Blonde Summer

American Apparel white crop tee (here), Urban Renewal Polka Dot Denim Shorts (here)

Surprise! I've gone blonde for the summer (: I thought it would be fun to have a lighter hair color but I didn't ever think I was going to go this light. I'm still trying to get used to it but I'll probably keep it for a little while before I go for some shade of red. Now that it's officially summer I've retreated to my usual go-to which is the high-waisted shorts & crop top combo. All I need is a jumbo slurpee and I'm good to go!

Boho Summer

( Thrifted rose-print dress, H&M hat, Steve Madden "Madhouse" boots )

Happy Summer, dolls! Celebrated the first weekend of the summer with this dress that I've been waiting to wear for about 4 months now. I thrifted it from Salvation Army and it was actually a maxi dress. I hacked off half of it since I thought it would look cuter. I'm excited for this summer! Lots of sunsets, BBQs, and ice treats! (:

5 Pointz

( Thrifted floral dress, H&M hat, H&M knee high socks, UO sunnies, UO Staring at Stars knit cardi, Steve Madden "Madhouse" boots )

Hello, dolls! Sorry for the month long absence. I have a bunch of posts pending that I still need to put up from my camping trip from weeks ago and my trip to Atlantic City last weekend. But today I was able to take a mini trip to 5 Pointz. If you're from NYC, especially Queens, you should be familiar with this place. I've lived in Queens since 2005 and I can't believe I ne

Easter Sunrise

(Forever 21 watercolor dress, Grey pumps, Forever 21 mint bag, H&M necklace, UO spike bracelet, Michael Kors watch)

As ya'll can probably tell, I dip-dyed my hair. Well I used kool-aid but yeah. I automatically fell inlove with this dress
when I saw it at Forever 21. It reminds me of watercolor paintings, cotton candy, and pretty clouds. Those are 3 really
awesome things, plus it looks gorgeous so I had to have it for an Easter dress. Also, I love to paint so the dress was just
undeniable. I hope you're all doing well! I've been busy this spring break hanging out with family and catching up with friends.

Oh and if I haven't mentioned it yet, I'm working now...at Urban Outfitters! ^____^

Leather Sleeves

(F21 Leather sleeved anorak, Gap top, H&M jeans, Studded bag, Steve Madden boots, MK watch, Urban Outfitters bracelets & rings)

It finally reached 50 degrees in NYC this weekend so I was able to use my new "Spring" jacket for a couple of days. I had some free time on friday so I was able to do my nails. I'm totally inlove with the tribal print, but it took me almost an hour to do it.

Sunday Attire

(Details: Thrifted white cardigan, Forever 21 polkadot turtleneck croptop, Gold chain, Navy blue circle skirt, Studded ankle boots)

It just dawned on me that I rarely wear white, or patterns. But behold, I really liked this outfit. I wore it to church today and without a doubt, this is something I would repeat wearing again. Yep.

Thrifted Fur Vest

Cross-printed shirt

Hey loves! I'm sorry for the lack of updates. Spring semester is back in session but here's a quick post.
I should be busy looking for spring pieces by now but I couldn't resist these. I've been looking for a cheaper version
of the ZARA leather-sleeved olive jacket for so long. I went to Forever 21 earlier, with no intentions of buying anything,
yet I couldn't leave the jacket behind. I also thrifted this fur vest last week. I had no idea it could be such an essential layering piece!
I can wear it under my coats or wear it over a leather jacket for an edgier vibe. Lastly, the cross shirt is just too dope to pass down.

Barely Warm

(H&M sweater, H&M cross pants; Forever 21 collar necklace; Urban Outfitters Deena & Ozzy platform boots)

Real friends take pictures of you despite the freezing temperatures. I think my friends have gotten used to my whining
and insisting to take a few shots of my outfits. "It's for your blog. I know, I know..." That's friendship.

I also tried Bareburger for the first time at Forest Hills. They have other branches throughout NYC too. Let me just say,
I never thought organic burgers would taste so good. The onion rings are the bomb.  It's better than Shake Shack!
